2020 Camp News: Two New Programs and Other News

Camp Updates

Today, we're happy to announce two brand new programs and a few other exciting program updates, including a date change for the first day of camp!

Camp Pecometh's 2020 season will officially kick off with Day Camp on Monday, June 15th. The first day of overnight camp will be Tuesday, June 16, when we offer a 4-day Mini Camp session just for our youngest campers in K-2nd and 3rd-5th grades. As in years past, there will also be a Mini Camp session in July.

Our brand new Full STEAM Ahead program for campers in 4th-6th grades (a new grade grouping we're offering this summer) will be the perfect program for kids who love experiments and collaborative challenges! With a focus on STEAM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Math - campers will gear up for exciting exploration of what makes our world tick.

It's also time for a revival of our beloved Music & Drama program. Middle school campers eager to take to the stage will work under the direction of Mr. Justin Callahan, a Camp Pecometh staff alum with several years of musical theater production experience. Get ready to break a leg! (Camp Nurse Meghan would like for me to note, "Metaphorically-speaking only, please!")

We've also made a few programming changes based on parent, camper and staff feedback. Folks share, and we listen, so that Camp Pecometh can be the best experience possible (fun, safe, God-inspired and life-changing) for our campers! The first change is that our video game program, That's Not Camp, will be open to all genders (formerly boys only) and will be offered twice during the summer: one 6th-8th grades session and a new 4th-6th grades session.

Our Late Night with Jesus program is shifting to a regular Night Owl schedule - staying up late and waking up late, at the same times each day - still allowing campers to experience all the best that Camp Pecometh has to offer in the daylight, along with exclusive nighttime events (midnight Giant Swing, anyone?!). This health-focused change will help campers and staff to better maintain physical and mental well-being, to better engage in the fun community-building that makes Late Night the unique experience it's always been.

And last but not least, this year we'll be offering both a Sailing I and a Sailing II program. Sailing I is a classic introductory program, while Sailing II is designed for intermediate to advanced sailors. Sailing II campers will even be invited to participate in a regatta at another local camp!
