A Time for Focus and Fun

Play, Plan, & Pray Retreat

Date: July 10 - 14, 2022 

(All costs are per person, includes program fees, single occupancy overnight accommodations at the RRC, and meals from lunch on your first day through lunch on your final day).

We're making time and space for.. whatever you need! Work on a project, do some long-range planning, spend time with a prayer partner, or just relax. Meals are provided and a few optional activities are scheduled each day, but the time is yours to use however you want.

Optional Activities Include: 

  • Guided Quiet Canoeing - Tuesday, July 12, 9-11am 
  • Guided Quiet Sunset Kayaking - Wednesday, July 13 7-8:30pm
  • Spiritual Direction (by appointment)
  • Opportunities for Communal Prayer

Retreat Cost

Choose the length of your stay and your arrival day during registration. Check-in is between 9:00 - 11:00am on the day of your arrival. Guests are asked to check out of their rooms by 10:00am on the day of departure, but are encouraged to stay up until 3:00pm.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Spiritual Direction? 

A Spiritual Director is someone who accompanies people on a spiritual journey, helping them to grow closer to God.  On this retreat participants will meet daily with a spiritual director to reflect deeply on the experiences of silent reflection.  

What should I bring?

Participants should pack comfortable clothes, a journal, Bible, devotional materials, walking shoes and weather-appropriate outerwear for walking the grounds. 

How long should I stay?

Come for the whole time, or just a few days.  Find a length of time that fits your needs and schedule.  Check In is from 9 - 11am on your first day. Guests are asked to check out of their rooms by 10am on their final day, but are welcome to stay through the afternoon.  

About our Spiritual Directors

Rev. Karen Covey Moore has been an ordained United Methodist minister since 1985.  She has served churches throughout the Peninsula-Delaware Conference of The United Methodist Church as a pastor and two years as the pediatric chaplain of the Medical Center of Delaware and three years as a bereavement counselor for Delaware Hospice.  She is currently serving Chabereth Ministries, Inc. as Founder and Spiritual Director.  Karen is the co-founder and a member of the Board of Directors of Hearts On Fire: Fellowship of United Methodist Spiritual Directors and Retreat Leaders (FUMSDRL).  She is also the co-founder of Healing Hearts Ministries: Ministry to Survivors of Suicide. Healing Hearts offers counseling and retreats for survivors of suicide loss and workshops for those who work with survivors. 

Mary An Love is a graduate of the University of Delaware (B.A. In English) and Neumann University (M.S. in Pastoral Care and Counseling), and has spent over 25 years in education and related fields. She has taught middle school and high school English and served as an administrator in a private school in Delaware. She has taught social justice classes at Vaughn Correctional Center as a program facilitator for Catholic Charities and then volunteered there as a spiritual director. Since her graduation from Neumann in 2006, Mary An has been active as a spiritual director with individuals and groups. She has facilitated retreats and days of reflection in different parishes, at Jesus House in Delaware, and from her home on a variety of topics, including women in scripture, Carmelite spirituality, and the Cosmic Christ.
