Licensing School
Peninsula-Delaware Conference Licensing School is open to:
- Those approved for licensing by the District Committee on Ministry
- Provisional Clergy entering a first appointment
- Certified Lay Ministers assigned to as Lay Pastor of a church (will not receive a license)
Completion of the Local Pastor Licensing School is required for licensing; however, the license itself is provided by the area Bishop. The license is necessary for a fully functional pastoral ministry. The license must be renewed annually by the District Committee on Ordained Ministry and the District Superintendent and is in effect only so long as a pastoral appointment is being served by the licensee.
Course Components
- Assigned reading with papers due June 8, 2024
- Online Sessions: 3 online sessions
- In Person: June 16 - 21, 2024 at Pecometh
Program Fees
The cost to attend Licensing School is $900, shared by the student, the conference and the local church. The student's portion can be paid online at the time of registration, or can be paid by check if preferred.

Program Details
Students are required to attend all virtual and in-person sessions. Extenuating circumstances may be taken into consideration, but any arrangements must be agreed upon in writing by the Deans and planning committee.
Materials
Textbooks are provided and will be shipped directly to the students after registration.
In addition, all students are expected to bring the following to all sessions: A Bible, the 2016 Book of Discipline, The United Methodist Book of Worship, The United Methodist Hymnal, note-taking tools.
