Summer Respite

Dates: June 30-July 5, 2024
Program Fee: $949 per camper

Offering the Camp Pecometh experience to campers 16 and up with intellectual disabilities, our Summer Respite is all about classic summer camp recreation - swimming, arts & crafts, canoeing, music, a talent show, and more. The camper/counselor ratio is 3:1 to ensure that all campers receive high levels of care and attention. These campers will stay in our climate controlled, dormitory-style retreat houses. Space is very limited.

What are the minimum requirements for Respite campers?

In addition to being at least 16 years of age, campers in our Summer and Fall Respite programs must meet the essential functions of a respite camper. Respite campers must be:

  • toilet trained.
  • able to dress and undress self.
  • able to feed self.
  • able to take care of personal hygiene needs with minimal caretaker assistance (including showering, brushing teeth, shaving, hair care, etc.).
  • able to move around without use of crutches, walkers, or wheelchairs and with minimal caretaker assistance.
  • not afraid to be away from home.
  • able and willing to follow simple directions.
  • able to live and function in a group situation (1:3 care ratio).
  • able to refrain from harming self and others.
  • able and willing to wear a mask over both their nose and mouth when required.

Our program is not designed to accommodate Respite campers requiring 1:1 care in the camp setting, use of a wheelchair, or diapering. Please contact Director of Program Ministries Nathan Vaughn or call 410-556-6900 to discuss if our program is the right fit for your camper.
