Residency in Ministry Program

This program is for commissioned clergy in the Peninsula-Delaware Annual Conference. Participation is mandatory and fulfills the requirements of The Residency Program for Provisional Members of The United Methodist Church.

The program aims to do much more than fulfill ordination requirements; it is designed to develop excellent clergy leaders.

Program Structure

The core element of each track is three 4-day, 3-night retreats each appointment year.

Each retreat will have the following elements:

  • Worship and Spiritual Formation
  • Guest Faculty to present on selected topics
  • Small Group Reflection
  • Participation by Mentors who stay with the cohort throughout the program

Residency in Ministry Retreats

The retreats will be held at Pecometh’s Riverview Retreat Center and will cost $399 each. Participants are encouraged to cover the cost using their continuing education allowances of $800 per year.

Attendance Requirement

The Board of Ordained Ministry requires completion of the RIM program as a pre-requisite for ordination. Provisional clergy participants may not miss more than 20 contact hours over the course of the two-year program. Participants may not miss any full retreat session.
